Agers
General
Agers are human paranormals who can reverse age to any age they were in the past. They can only age backwards, never forwards. They always assume the look they had at a previous age. They can never look any different. When they age backwards they become the age they were for as long as they’re turned.
There’s is a limited power that involves a rebound time after shifting.
Powers
When they age backwards they become the age they were for as long as they’re turned, literally. Enjoying the benefits of their younger bodies, their younger selves. However, they retain their current memories and psychology (at whatever age they are, ‘naturally’).
The few Agers who’ve come back as ghosts seem to retain the ability to appear in different ages as ghosts. This is contrary to most ghosts who can only appear in the form they had at the time of their death.
Weaknesses & Limitations
They can’t change into any other forms. They can only change backwards to a
previous version of themselves. They have no special powers beyond that. The
older they get the more ‘choice’ they have in what earlier self they can change
into.
Unlike many Paras who suffer problems as they age, Agers seem to get better
with age.
Lifestyle
Agers are very opposed to being put into assisted living facililties or care homes
and strive to keep their independence as long as they possibly can. This allows
them the freedom to age back and continue to ‘live’ active lives even late into old
age.
Many Agers seek to keep partying even in old age, in their younger form, of course.
Legal
Legally, an Ager’s ‘true age’ is their ‘natural’ age. This can cause problems when
senior citizen Agers age back to younger selves and seek to have relations with
people who are underage.
Side Effects
Unlike many paras who suffer problems as they age, Agers, by and large, seem to
do better as they age. They tend to be fairly long-lived on the whole and aren’t
associated with any particular illnesses or injuries more so than the general
population.
Other Paranormals
Telepaths can read an Ager’s mind and pick up that it is not “age appropriate”.
Chameleons can change into any form of Ager they want once they’ve ‘read’ an Ager.
Borrowers can borrow an Ager’s power and effectively become an Ager themselves during their ‘borrow’ period.
Agers aren’t often on the menu for Cannibals. Cannibals don’t like the way they taste.
Emoters have a hard time affecting emotional change in Agers. They don’t know why.
Agers are one of the few paranormals who seem to retain their powers if resurected by a Lazarine.
Mirrors can see an Agers true age whenever they stare into a mirror or piece of glass the Mirror is inhabiting.
Visuals can see both the Agers ‘true’ form and their changed form.
Weres and Therians can ‘smell’ an Ager’s true age. Same with the undead.
Cephalophores, in separated form can see an Agers true age.
Dopplegangers can only shift into the form of the Ager they see.
Feelers can ‘feel’ the true age of an Ager.
