Background - 2029: Astrals

Astrals

            General
Human paras who can astrally project versions of themselves.

Powers
While asleep or in a deep meditative state, can project astral versions of themselves that are able to interact with the environment on a limited basis. The astral projections appear solid and can see and hear things around them but  are not in solid form thus can’t touch anything or be touched.

Strong Astrals can project multiple projections of themselves to different places at the same time.

Weaknesses & Limitations
Projections can only be created and sent out while in sleep or in a deep meditative state. Can’t be done at any other time.

Spending one’s sleep time sending out astral projections can rob one of necessary quality sleep.
Weak Astrals can’t see through another stronger Astrals’ projections as being just projections, at least, not right away. The reverse isn’t the case, as strong Astrals can see through a weak Astrals’ projection right away.

Lifestyle
Tend to be on the paranoid side about where they sleep and how secure it is, which makes sense given their power is centered around their sleeping or being in a deep meditative state, both states in which they’re very vulnerable.

Legal
Their ability to send projections is not exactly kosher with most law enforcement. Though their projections ability to gain information is quite useful.

Side Effects
In later life, often suffer from sleep disorders.

Other Paranormals, Others and the Undead
The Undead can see through projections and realize they’re not real.

Visuals can see through the Astrals’ projections easily.

Hearers can hear that a projection is fake.

Sniffers can smell that a projection is fake.

Apollos can dissolve a projection with their sunlight.

Illusionists can see through an Astral’s projections.

Have a lot in common with Shadowcasters.
